‘Game of Thrones’ Finale Recap: Jon Snow’s Origin and So Much Death

The season six finale of Game of Thrones had a lot of deaths and one major reveal that fans have been waiting for since the beginning. Many fans have speculated that Jon Snow’s mother was someone important, and in Bran Stark’s most recent vision, we finally found out that Jon’s mom was Ned Stark’s sister, Lyanna. Her last wish before dying was that Ned protect her newborn baby boy from Robert Baratheon, who would’ve killed Jon if he knew the boy had Targaryen blood in him. The rest of the episode was full of death and some major characters lost their lives. Many people gathered for the trial of Ser Loras Tyrell and Cersei Lannister. While the High Sparrow was carving Ser Loras’s forehead, Cersei was nowhere to be found. That’s because she wanted to avoid the massive explosion of wildfire that killed everyone in and around the Great Sept of Baelor, including Queen Margaery. Cersei, obviously, saved King Tommen from the wildfire, but she couldn’t save him from himself. The thought of all that death was too much for the young king to handle and he jumped out the window to his death. There was one more surprising death when Arya Stark served Lord Frey some pie made out of his butchered sons. Arya then told Lord Frey, “The last thing you're ever going to see is a Stark smiling down at you as you die,” right before slitting his throat.
