FX’s ‘Tyrant’ Casts Annet Mahendru; Sebastian Roche In Amazon’s ‘Man In The High Castle’

The Americans veteran Annet Mahendru has booked a recurring role on the third season of FX drama series Tyrant. Mahendru will play Nafisa Al-Qadi, the wife of Sheik Al-Qadi, the spiritual and political leader of Ma’an who is caught between the violent tactics of the Caliphate and his distrust of the Al-Fayeeds. Tyrant revolves around an unassuming American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent fictional Middle Eastern nation. Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner), younger son of the war-torn country’s dictator, ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland. His reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth. Mahendru is known as KGB officer Nina in FX’s The Americans and recently played Sveta in The X-Files return alongside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Sebastian Roche (The Originals, General Hospital) has been cast in a recurring role on the second season of Amazon’s original drama series The Man in the High Castle. Based on Philip K. Dick’s alt-history novel, the series depicts a divided and drab 1962 America in which the Nazis rule the East and Midwest and Imperial Japan reigns over the Western states, with a neutral zone between them. Roche will play reichminister Martin Hausmann, a wealthy, high-ranking Nazi official based in Berlin. He is the biological but estranged father of Joe (Luke Kleintank) and is sincere in his desire to reconnect with his son but would not blink twice about the extermination of the enemies of the Reich. Roche plays Cardinal Michel Marivaux on HBO’s Young Pope. He’s repped by Framework Entertainment, Abrams Artists Agency and Performers Management.
