‘Fresh Off the Boat’ Season Finale Sneak Peek: Ken Jeong Guest Stars as Louis’s Brother

Oh, brother!

Fresh Off the Boat’s second season finale on Tuesday night is a crossover special starring Ken Jeong, star of ABC sister comedy Dr. Ken. Jeong plays Louis’s (Randall Park) estranged brother, Gene, who visits the family in Orlando to tell them some big news.

So, what happened to drive the two brothers apart? This sneak peek clip gives us a clue, as it flashes back to a key moment in their past. Louis and Gene are sitting in a hot spring with their dad, who notes, “I’ve worked hard so you can have a better life.” He’s saved enough money for a ticket to America… but only for one of them. And the brothers have to decide who goes.

“You should go,” Louis says to Gene, who immediately responds, “No, you should go.”

Thus starts the War of No — watch the sneak peek to find out how it gets resolved.

This is the latest in a series of crossovers between Fresh Off the Boat and Dr. Ken. Park guested on the latter comedy last month as Ken’s new Korean buddy, and when we interviewed Jeong about that episode, he explained that their real-life friendship triggered these crossovers.

“Randall is a good friend of mine, and also Melvin Mar, one of the executive producers of Fresh Off the Boat,” Jeong said. “We were just kind of casually talking and I told Randall that I’d love to have him on the show. And then Melvin Mar was like, ‘We’d love to have you on our show.’ And I was like, ‘Totally!’ It really spun out of friendship and the mutual respect we have for each other.”

Jeong said he “had a blast” filming the FOTB finale, and perhaps there will be future guest appearances exchanged between the two shows.

“Randall is welcome any time he wants. I love our energy, we really mesh well together,” Jeong said. “I really love acting with him — I think this is our third time working together, we just kind of finish each other’s sentences.”

The Fresh Off the Boat Season 2 finale airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
