‘Fresh Off the Boat’ Infomercial Goes Hilariously Wrong

On Fresh Off the Boat, Louis’s restaurant was rented out to shoot an infomercial for a product you can’t live without — the Ongun. Pronounced “Un-gun,” it chops onions in a gun, and Louis couldn’t help but wonder why they didn’t name it the “Gunion.”

When an actor called in sick, Louis was cast as the replacement salad eater, but it might be that acting is not his forté; we discovered he needed quite a few takes to get his one line not right.

When Emery saw his Dad going down in flames, he seized the opportunity and got the director to cast him instead. And Louis realized that Emery was sabotaging him from the start, but Emery didn’t care, saying, “It’s ‘infomercial,’ not ‘friendmercial.'”

When Louis saw that Emery’s acting style involved a lot of nervous blinking, he put aside their differences and offered his son some loving words of encouragement, but Emery suspected that he was just trying to throw him off his game.

Though father and son may have been at odds on set, at least they can both agree that the final product was terrible.

Fresh Off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
