Fox Picks Up Comedy 'Turned On' With Paul Feig to Produce (Exclusive)

The Hollywood Reporter

Twentieth Century Fox has picked up Turned On, a comedy spec that Paul Feig will produce.

The script is by Charlie Kesslering, an up-and-coming writer who embodies the Hollywood screenwriting dream, paying his dues as an assistant while pursuing his passion. He is currently the assistant to The Late Late Show With James Corden host James Corden. Prior to that, he was an assistant at CAA and spent time interning at representation firms while writing on the side.

The script tells of a brilliant but awkward engineer who creates an android to fill in for her in life's difficult situations. But things soon spiral out of control when the robot self-actualizes.

Feig and Fox were attracted to its inventive script and liked that it has a great leading role for a funny woman.

Jessie Henderson, co-president of Feigco Entertainment, also will produce. Dan Magnante will oversee the project for the company.

Feig, who directed the recent Ghostbusters reboot, is in postproduction on an untitled mother-daughter comedy starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn which Fox will release May 12.

Kesslering is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
