Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Set to Interview President Trump

Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson will interview President Donald Trump in what’s being billed as “a wide-ranging conversation” that will air during Wednesday’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Carlson’s first one-on-one sit-down with Trump since Election Day will occur in Detroit, MI. The new healthcare bill is expected to be among the topics.

Carlson replaced Megyn Kelly in Fox News’ 9 p.m. ET timeslot and hasn’t missed a beat. During the month of February, Carlson averaged 3.282 million viewers to finish No. 2 in all of cable news, behind only his lead-in, Bill O’Reilly. Carlson was also the second-most watched cable news program in the key news demo of adults age 25-54, averaging 695,000 demo viewers per night.

Trump, who is known to be extremely interested in ratings, is picking the program that will be seen by the most eyeballs outside of “The O’Reilly Factor.” The president has already spoken with O’Reilly since Election Day.

Carlson has emerged as must-see television for right-leaning viewers: he often brings on guests with different opinions, resulting in news-making interviews. He is known to call guests out if he disagrees with them – recently he got into a heated discussion with Univision’s Jorge Ramos. While Carlson’s show should be somewhat friendly territory for Trump, the host is not the type to lob softballs questions.

“I just want to make a show that I would watch. I’m mostly a news reader, so I always think when I’m reading the stories, ‘I wish I could talk to the person in the story,'” Carlson told TheWrap last year. “Less analysis and more interviews with people who are in the news, maybe who aren’t on television a lot but are directly connected to the story.”
