‘The Flash’ Sneak Peek: Zoom Tempts Caitlin Towards the Dark Side

Zoom has been unmasked on “The Flash,” but that doesn’t make the speed demon is any less dangerous — if anything, his long con as “Jay Garrick” has made Hunter Zolomon (Teddy Sears) an even more formidable foe, since his time on Team Flash has also given him an unhealthy fixation on Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), who remains in his clutches.

In the May 3 episode, “Rupture,” Zoom and Caitlin have returned from Earth-2, with Zoom intent on conquering as many alternate Earths as possible; and since Barry (Grant Gustin) is still powerless, stopping the multiverse-hopping villain will take more than just speed.

In Variety‘s exclusive sneak peek at “Rupture,” a captured Caitlin attempts to get to the bottom of Zoom’s plans, but the big bad is more intent on luring her to the dark side — especially since last week’s episode saw Zoom murder Caitlin’s Earth-2 doppelganger, Killer Frost.

Episode 20 of Season 2, written by Kai Yu Wu & Lauren Certo, also marks the directorial debut of “The Flash’s” Emmy-nominated VFX supervisor Armen Kevorkian, while next week’s installment is directed by lifelong comic book fan and “Clerks” auteur Kevin Smith, and written by “X-Men: First Class” and “Thor” scribe Zack Stentz. The CW recently renewed “The Flash” and a slew of other shows for its 2016-17 season.

Here’s the official episode description for “Rupture”: Zoom arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry and Wells (Tom Cavanagh) come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it’s extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice. Henry (guest star John Wesley Shipp) is adamantly opposed to Barry risking his life again but Joe (Jesse L. Martin) thinks he can handle it which puts the two men at odds with each other. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is shocked when he vibes the Earth-2 villain Rupture, who happens to be his brother Dante’s (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez) doppelganger. Rupture came to this Earth seeking justice for Reverb’s death. Iris (Candice Patton) decides she’s finally ready to open up to Barry about her feelings for him.

“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
