‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Cast Reflects on That Big Exit, Tells Us What's Next

Even though Jeremiah Otto “committed suicide” on the midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead, actor Dayton Callie still made it to San Diego Comic-Con with his co-stars to talk about the show. He, along with Michael Greyeyes, Daniel Sharman, and Mercedes Mason, discussed his exit from the AMC drama, as well as what the second half of the season has to offer.

The truce between the Ranch and the Reservation still stands but, obviously, the tension is still there — even for the actors as they were reading the scripts. “It felt like someone had their hand around my throat,” Greyeyes says.

Looking back, Callie suggests the crew didn’t have much sentimentality when it came to Jeremiah’s death. But his co-stars argue otherwise. “Dave [Erickson, the showrunner] made a really moving speech,” Greyeyes says. The worst part about filming his exit, according to Callie? What happened after all the tearful goodbyes. “You have to do reshoots,” he says. And cue the cast doing their impressions of the crew working through that awkward post-farewell period. If you’ve ever hugged someone goodbye then realized your cars were both in the same direction, you can probably relate.
