'Fear the Walking Dead' Brain-Dead Move of the Week: Who Let the Zombies Out? (Grunt Grunt Grunt Grunt)

image

Every week on Fear the Walking Dead, someone does something stupid that needlessly endangers the lives of themselves and others. Here, we commemorate those decisions in the hopes that they won’t be repeated. But of course, they know they will be.

Well, it looks like Fear the Walking Dead was saving all of its zombie budget for the season finale; after a couple of walker-free weeks, we got hordes of ‘em last night, along with plenty of blood and gore. But if you thought these characters made dumb decisions when there weren’t zombies breathing down their necks…

In fact, the FWTD finale was such a cavalcade of bad decision-making, we’re having trouble choosing which one to anoint as our Brain-Dead Move of the Week. Should it be:

* Daniel, for not killing Adams when he had the chance, and letting mealy-mouthed Travis keep an eye on him, which of course led to him letting Adams go?

* Daniel again, for letting two thousand zombies out of a locked arena just to act as a diversion so they could get inside the military compound? You know those zombies can bite you, too, right? (Unless they couldn't…?)

* Travis and Madison, for leaving annoyingly angsty teens Chris and Alicia alone to guard the getaway car? Frankly, they’re lucky their kids were even still alive when they got back.

* Adams, for coming back with a gun (!), but then using it to shoot Ofelia (?) and then letting Travis overpower him and beat him to a pulp? You have a gun! Why didn’t he force them to get him out of there alive? Or at least shoot the guy that tortured him? This guy was clearly not bright enough to serve our country.

* Liza, for knowing she was bitten by a zombie and still going to a secluded location with her child, never knowing when she was going to turn? (And why did she have such a long time before she turned, anyway? The biology of this doesn’t make any sense to us.)

* Liza, one last time, for asking Madison, and then Travis, to shoot her in the head before she turned? You’re standing on the edge of a cliff! Just jump off! Don’t make Travis shoot you in the head, so that your son can come running and see your dead body. (Like that was any less traumatic than seeing her turn. Chris was in the middle of a popsicle!)

But no, we’re gonna go with the ultra-slick Strand for our final Brain-Dead Move of the season… for bringing these people back with him to his beautiful home, and telling them about his boat, Abigail. Strand is a smart guy — smart enough to recognize these people are liabilities. After they all escaped the military compound, he could’ve just said, “Nice knowing you,” and hit the road on his own.

Instead, he voluntarily brought this band of morons into his life, not to mention his home — he’s lucky Liza didn’t turn and chow down on all of them! — and now he is apparently willing to get on an isolated boat with them. Whatever terrible things happen to you next season, Strand? That’s on you.

Fear the Walking Dead will return for Season 2 next year on AMC.
