Fabled 'Crab Ball' Located on 'Deadliest Catch'

On Deadliest Catch, the ship Cornelia Marie stumbled on a once-in-a-lifetime fishing spot when they located a crab ball. A crab ball is extremely rare and occurs when crabs go into a feeding frenzy in one location which in turn causes them to stack up on top of one another. The ship's captain, Josh Harris, would normally drop the fishing pots a quarter mile apart but after pulling one pot up that held 600 opilio crab he decide to gamble and drop all his gear in that spot. The bet paid off as the crew of the Cornelia Marie repeatedly pulled pots holding over 500 crabs. And considering a pot of 200 crabs is good, Captain Harris had to be pretty thankful. The windfall was particularly meaningful because Harris recently took over the boat after his father, and star of Deadliest Catch, Phil Harris died. While the crew was dumping crab into the holding tanks Josh Harris reflected on the recent events saying, "Somebody is watching out for me now and I have a pretty good idea who that is."
