Maybe love is not just for show.

On UnREAL, romance is all about ratings, but that could change in Season 2. Yahoo TV can confirm exclusively that Freddie Stroma is returning as former bachelor Adam Cromwell to shake up producer Rachel’s (Shiri Appleby) world again.

Last season, Rachel fell for her Everlasting lead, and they planned to run off together, but he rejected her at the instigation of her mentor/boss, Quinn (Constance Zimmer). Then the producers engineered the finale so that Adam’s final pick, Anna (Johanna Braddy), left him at the altar on live television.

The show must go on, of course, so this season stars an entirely new bachelor, but Adam will be back — how and why aren’t clear yet. But you can guarantee that his return dredges up all the feels for Rachel. “I just think Adam and Rachel’s story is not over,” creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro told us. “They left it in such a strange way. They have a lot more to do to each other.”

Although Lifetime wouldn’t reveal how many episodes Stroma is in, he likely won’t be there for the entire season as he’s starring in a new series. ABC recently picked up Time After Time, in which the actor plays H.G. Wells.

While Adam and Rachel’s love story resulted in heartbreak, Stroma’s real-life love story has a happy ending. He and Braddy, who met on the UnREAL set, just got engaged!

UnREAL returns Monday, June 6 at 10 p.m. on Lifetime
