Everything We Know About ‘Westworld’ Season 2 So Far

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Season 1 of Westworld:

While Season 2 of Westworld may not be premiering until 2018, fans continue to theorize about every little clue they can get their hands on. The latest breadcrumb came from Reddit via Westworld co-creator Jonathan Nolan, who weighed in on a thread with a very intriguing picture.

It showed an innocuous-looking smiley-face maze sitting atop the script for the premiere episode of Season 2, showing part of the title, which read, “Journey Into.” The rest of the title is cut off, although sharp eyes can see the letter N, which likely means that the full title is “Journey Into Night.”

Fans will recall that “Journey Into Night” was Dr. Ford’s final narrative in the park before his demise.

In regard to what Season 2 will focus on, we already know from an Entertainment Weekly interview with Nolan and co-creator Lisa Joy that there will be a time jump and we’ll get to see some of the logistics of how the hosts actually function. We’ll also be seeing a more evolved version of Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores.

And what about the future of the other hosts? Well, in an interview with Yahoo TV, Thandie Newton said of Season 2, and Maeve’s decision to head back into the park rather than leave on the train in the Season 1 finale, “It seems like a sacrifice, her denying herself that desire to escape. And for what reason? That’s the cliffhanger: I don’t know the reason, you don’t know the reason. We are going to discover why, and that’s obviously going to be part of the narrative for Season 2.”

Ed Harris will return as William, aka the Man in Black. Talulah Riley, who played the host, Angela, who welcomed William into the park, and Louis Herthum, who played Dolores’s father, Peter Abernathy, in the premiere, will be upped to series regulars.

Westworld Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
