On Empire, Lucious Lyon flashed back to his time in Vegas, where he sported cornrows and he was in love with the mysterious Giuliana. It turned out the two were lovers and business partners about to close a deal that would cost Lucious ten million dollars. When Giuliana's shady husband (that Lucious didn't know about) swooped in with guns and muscle, Lucious lost ten mil in cash and Giuliana.
Now that we finally understood why Lucious has been so skeptical about doing business in Vegas, we went on to watch him tentatively rekindle old flames with Giuliana after she told him that she killed her husband for him.
Meanwhile, Angelo whipped out a huge diamond ring on live television, got down on one knee and proposed to Cookie. Taken completely off guard she revealed to him backstage that she still had feelings for Lucious and that she kissed him. And it was bum luck when it turned out this was being broadcast to the entire television studio through Angelo's microphone. Things got extra bad when Angelo angrily recited a laundry list of all of the illegal things he had done for Cookie.
After Angelo spilled the beans, Cookie found herself realizing her love for Lucious at exactly the wrong time - right when Lucious and Giuliana were becoming an item.
