Emmys: Julia Louis-Dreyfus Honors Late Father in Emotional Speech
Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus took home her fifth Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, and the star used the moment to pay tribute to her father, businessman and art collector William Louis-Dreyfus, who passed away on Friday. Fighting back tears, she closed her speech with a brief but touching eulogy: “I’m so glad that he liked Veep, because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”

Of course, Dreyfus couldn’t help but be funny in her speech as well. “I would like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate,” the Veep star joked. “Our show started out as a political satire, but it now feels more like a sobering documentary.”

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, Veep fans joined in mourning her father as well. There was just one problem: they had the wrong Dreyfus. Veteran Hollywood star, Richard Dreyfus, issued this Tweet about an hour after Louis-Dreyfus’s speech.
