When Downton Abbey‘s Maggie Smith goes for a repeat Emmy win next Sunday as Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, history won’t be on her side.

Only twice since 1990 has an actress scored back-to-back victories in the category: The West Wing‘s Allison Janney (2000-2001) and Huff‘s Blythe Danner (2005-2006).
