The Emmys traded one Peter for another. The Television Academy has announced that Peter Scolari has now been nominated for guest actor in comedy for his role in HBO’s Girls.

He now joins previously announced nominees Martin Mull (HBO’s Veep), Larry David (NBC’s Saturday Night Live), Tracey Morgan (NBC’s Saturday Night Live), Bob Newhart (CBS’ The Big Bang Theory) and Bradley Whitford (Amazon’s Transparent). Whitford won the trophy last year.

Peter MacNicol, who had been nominated for his role in Veep as Jonah Simons’ uncle Jeff Kane, was disqualified on Wednesday when it was discovered that he had appeared in five of the season’s 10 episodes.

According to new Emmy rules that were instituted last year, performers may only submit as guest actors if they appear in “less than 50%” of the eligible episodes.

The guest category winners will be announced at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 10 and 11, followed by the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 18.
