Elton John Dishes on Wardrobe, Tantrums, and Kids During Carpool Karaoke
Elton John was the latest musical star to participate in “Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Sir Elton rode around the rainy streets of Los Angeles singing songs and baring some lesser known personal stories.
We learned that he came up with his flashy outfits because he couldn’t dance, and he also said, “I was never a lead vocalist like Bowie or Jagger. I was stuck at a piano, and I wasn’t a sex symbol, so I had fun with my outfits and I went for it.”
In what was probably the most surprising revelation, Elton revealed he doesn’t have a phone! He said he just relies on a security person’s phone if he needs one.
Known for occasionally having rather large tantrums, he also shared a funny story about staying at Inn on the Park London and calling the hotel office to ask them to stop the wind from blowing. While he said it wasn’t a traditional tantrum, he confessed, “as far as reality goes, it was pretty far off the chart.”
And lastly he talked about his kids, Elijah and Zachary. He said the kids have changed him forever, in a good way. As for their tantrums, he said, “I love it. I haven’t had one second in Zachary or Elijah’s life where I’ve thought they’d be getting on my nerves.”
