Guests at HBO's Westworld premiere were surprised when Elon Musk dropped by the afterparty at the Hollywood Roosevelt on Sept. 29.
After briefly chatting with Christopher Nolan before the Dunkirk director made a quick exit, Musk shuffled over to the other Nolan at the party, Jonathan, who co-created the dystopian series starring Evan Rachel Wood with his wife, Lisa Joy. (Musk and the younger Nolan first met at a physics conference six years ago and have been friends since.) When asked whether he has any desire to create his own Westworld after he colonizes Mars, Musk told The Hollywood Reporter that building a theme park full of human-like robots isn't exactly at the top of his to-do list.
"No immediate plans," he chuckled, adding that if he ever did delve into the world of artificial intelligence he'd make sure it wouldn't take an apocalyptic turn. "I wouldn't let the robots go astray," he said, admitting that he's concerned about AI - particularly any military use of it.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder was also there to support his now twice ex-wife Talulah Riley, who he wrote on Twitter does "a great job of playing a deadly sexbot."
