Ellen DeGeneres Teases President George W. Bush About That Poncho Fiasco

Ellen welcomed George W. Bush to her show on Thursday. The 43rd president chatted with host Ellen DeGeneres about his interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Trump’s relationship with the press. They also talked about something very important: Bush’s inability to put on a poncho at the 2017 Inauguration.

Watching images of the unfolding incident, DeGeneres asked, “You had a little bit of a problem, the poncho was a problem. … It seemed… Had you put a poncho…? Had you put one on? Is it the first time? First time putting a poncho on?”

“It looks like it,” chuckled the former president in response.

As she tends to do, DeGeneres ended her segment by giving her guest a gift. As he accepted the poncho, he didn’t try to put it on, which can only be described as a savvy move.
