Ellen and Lena Dunham Surprise Nurse Who Lena Says Saved Her Life
On Wednesday, Ellen DeGeneres welcomed Girls star Lena Dunham, who recently spent time in the hospital due to endometriosis. While in the hospital, Dunham became close with her nurse, Jonnella, who happens to be a huge Ellen fan. So DeGeneres and Dunham decided to surprise her.
Under the guise that Dunham was appearing on Ellen the following day, she Facetimed Jonnella and asked if she had any questions for Dunham to ask DeGeneres. When Jonnella couldn’t think of anything, DeGeneres jumped into the picture. To say Jonnella was surprised would be an understatement.
Once she calmed down, Jonnella’s nurse nature kicked in and she immediately brought up DeGeneres’s recently injured finger. Though DeGeneres gushed about how great her nurse was, Jonnella said she’d be better. As one last surprise for Jonnella, who recently had a birthday, DeGeneres offered to fly her out for a taping of the show, which, as it turns out, was Jonnella’s birthday wish.
