Easter Eggs Aplenty on ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete First Season’ Blu-ray

Here’s a quick peek at some of the additional material available on the Blu-ray set of the first season of Legends of Tomorrow. There are three featurettes: Waverider, Jonah Hex, and “History in the Making.”

The Waverider extra promises to give us a little more insight into what the writers call “Rip’s Parlor.” It’s full of little Easter eggs — many of which turn out to foreshadow future adventures. Among the items that can be seen: Hourman’s hourglass and Dr. Mid-Nite’s bombs, both artifacts of the Justice Society of America. Those characters are/will be played by Patrick J. Adams and Lance Henriksen, respectively, in Season 2. Does that mean we may also see the JSA’s version of the Red Tornado, Ma Hunkel?

We also spend some time with Johnathon Schaech, who plays the show’s version of Jonah Hex. He seems to hint strongly at the character’s return and — seeing as how he’s in the special features — it seems pretty likely that he will. And executive producer Marc Guggenheim talks about the anthology style of the show — in essence, creating a series of mini-homage films. Or, as another Legends EP, Phil Klemmer, put it in a recent interview with Yahoo TV: “I think Season 3 would be as different from Season 2 as 2 is from 1.” Can a dinosaur episode be far off?

Season 1 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be available on Blu-ray including Digital HD and DVD on Aug. 23. Season 2 premieres Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
