The 'Downton Abbey' Cast Takes You Inside the #LastDaysOfDownton

American viewers don’t have to wait until January to witness the last days of Downton Abbey. As filming on the sixth and final season of the hit British series wraps up across the pond, the show’s cast has been posting behind-the-scenes farewell photos on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag, #LastDaysofDownton. Brendan Coyle, who plays trouble-plagued jailbird valet Mr. Bates, tweeted this sweet tribute to his onscreen wife, Anna, played by Joanne Froggatt.

Froggatt returned the favor, pulling her best stern face to match Bates’s grim demeanor.

Besides Coyle, the actress took a moment to bid farewell to another important co-star: Anna’s footwear.

Meanwhile, above stairs, the members of the extended Crawley clan were saying their own goodbyes. Elizabeth McGovern posted this picture depicting the tearful aftermath of her last-ever scene as Lady Cora.

Fortunately, her (fictional) hubby of six years, Hugh Bonneville, swooped in to cheer her up, even going barefoot for the cause.

Michelle Dockery was all smiles, lavishing motherly affection on twins Logan and Cole Weston, who take turns playing Mary and Matthew’s offspring (and heir to the Downton estate), George Crawley. “Today is the last day of what has been the most glorious 6 years of my life,” she wrote on Instagram.

Dockery also peeked in on Mary’s bedroom one last time, the place where she enjoyed memorable encounters with Kemal Pamuk and, presumably, Matthew.

Oh, and if you were concerned that Allen Leech’s soulful Irish firebrand, Tom, really had permanently relocated to America, the actor revealed that he’d be featured in at least one scene during the final run of episodes.

Kevin Doyle never seems to catch a break as eternally put-upon manservant Molesley, but the actor enjoyed this relaxing moment with co-star Rob James-Collier, taking a rare break from scheming as ambitious underbutler, Thomas Barrow.

Downton’s farewell tour continued off-set at a special BAFTA tribute honoring the show’s global success. That’s where Dockery enjoyed a very special reunion with a certain former hubby, which she posted with the simple caption “Reunited.”
