Donald Trump Flip-Flops Big Time While Debating Himself on ‘The Late Show’ (Video)

Donald Trump refused to participate in Fox News’ Republican debate on Thursday, so Stephen Colbert had the bright idea to moderate a debate in which the GOP presidential frontrunner faced off against his “greatest opponent” — himself.

“Welcome to debate night Americana style, a nation in the balance,” Colbert said on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” “Tonight, the leading Republican faces off against arguably his greatest opponent, himself. Tonight, it is Donald vs. Trump, or as they are known by their celebrity couple name, Dump.”

During the debate, Colbert asked Donald and Trump several questions, to which the answers are pulled from various clips from the past few years.

Colbert’s first question was whether Donald and Trump believe Donald Trump’s absence at the Republican debate would help improve Ted Cruz’s chances.

“I don’t think Ted Cruz has a great chance, he’s a nasty guy, nobody likes him, nobody in Congress likes him,” Donald responded.

“I like Ted Cruz a lot,” Trump argued.

“Right out of the gate there is a strong difference of opinion between our one candidate,” said Colbert.

When asked about his opinion on Iowa, 2016 Donald said, “I love Iowa, we’ve done really well here,” whereas 2015’s Trump asks, “How stupid are the people of Iowa?”

And Colbert did not fail to question both sides of Trump about his thoughts on Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

In 2011, Trump told Kelly that “you’ve done a great job by the way and I mean it.” In 2016, Donald said, “I have zero respect for Megyn Kelly.”

Colbert mocked the candidate’s strong difference in opinion by ending the segment with, “I want to thank Donald Trump for being just as divided as this country is.”
