'Doctor Who' Cast Plays Stump the Star at Comic-Con

Considering that the Doctor Who cast and crew have access to a transportation device that allows them to transcend time and space, it should be next to impossible to stump them with questions about the British sci-fi favorite. On the other hand, the series has been on the air for fifty years now, which is an awful lot of time to transcend. So we can forgive the current Doctor (Peter Capaldi), his companion, Clara (Jenna Coleman), his nemesis Missy (Michelle Gomez), and showrunner Steven Moffat for having a tough time answering Yahoo TV’s fan-solicited stumpers.

Jetting into San Diego to attend the first full day of Comic-Con, the quartet had to contend with such difficult queries as “What prop ring did Billie Piper take from the set when she left the show?” and “Who played the Twelfth Doctor in a 1999 Red Nose Day Special?” The final stumper? “How old was the doctor when he first visited the Medusa Cascade?” a reference to an episode that aired way back in 2008. Watch this video to see how the group fared against the fans. All we’ll say is that maybe they should bring a TARDIS to their next “Stump the Star” session.

Doctor Who returns on Sept. 19 on BBC America.
