Demi Lovato Talks Awkward Grammy Night in See-Through Dress With Dad as Her Date

Prior to her stellar performance of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” at the Grammy Awards, Demi Lovato walked the red carpet in a stunning, almost completely see-through dress. Lovato appeared on Ellen Wednesday, where she talked about why that dress made for an awkward evening: Her date for the night was her dad. This was especially awkward on the red carpet, where she had to answer questions about the dress.

Lovato said, “Someone was like, ‘Tell us a secret about your dress.’ And I was like, ‘It’s completely see-through.’”

That the dress is see-through was hardly a secret to anyone with properly functioning eyes, except maybe her father.

“He said he approved, but I don’t think he realized it was see-through,” Lovato said, adding, “We didn’t talk about it.”

It may seem a bit odd that she would choose to wear such a revealing dress if she knew her dad was her date for the night, but it turns out she was talked into it.

Lovato explained, “At first I tried on the dress, and I was like, ‘I’m not wearing this. It’s see-through.’ And my stylist was like, ‘But it looks amazing.’ Then everyone was like, ‘It looks amazing.’ Then I convinced myself. But then I was actually on the red carpet with my dad, and that was awkward.”
