David Letterman Goes 'On the Street' With Billy Eichner

With David Letterman’s final Late Show — which will air on May 20 — fast approaching, speculation has begun on what the late-night legend will do once he retires from hosting. Frequent guest and Letterman favorite Billy Eichner took it upon himself to help the host figure out his next move. The energetic comic behind Billy on the Street lured Letterman outside for a signature On the Street in which he asked New Yorkers what they thought Dave should do after he leaves The Late Show. While many of the ambushed citizens were simply too flustered to see Letterman outside of the Ed Sullivan Theater — trust us, it’s akin to spotting a unicorn in Times Square — to offer any useful suggestions, a few fans had nice suggestions for what the host should do next, including “retirement and lots of happiness” and “whatever he wants.”

The Late Show With David Letterman airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
