Watch David Duchovny Reveal the Truth About 'The X-Files' Reboot to David Letterman

The truth is out there: The X-Files is returning to terrestrial airwaves sometime next year. During his appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Fox Mulder himself (aka David Duchovny) told the late-night host that he’ll be shooting the new six-episode run of The X-Files consecutively with his ‘60s era NBC series, Aquarius, in which he plays an L.A. police sergeant. “In the ‘60s my ties will be short, and then I’ll let it out a bit and I’ll go over to the X-Files set. That’s the kind of actor I am, Dave!”

Duchovny also revealed that, along with Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully, X-Files favorites like Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) will also be returning. “It’s a strange phenomenon that people still want to see those characters, but I’m grateful.”

The Late Show With David Letterman airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
