David Cassidy Gives Very Awkward, Often Combative Interview

David Cassidy, he of the popular ’70s act The Partridge Family, was a guest via satellite on the British talk show This Morning Friday and gave an awkward and sometimes combative interview to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

They wanted to discuss his bankruptcy, but Cassidy was objecting to the idea that it was anything particularly serious. “It’s something that you do to in order to reorganize what you have, your assets, etc. So I’m not going to discuss that. … Are you just here to rubbish me?”

The hosts raced to clarify that that was not their intention. Cassidy then made clear he still has assets, despite putting his Florida mansion up for auction. When Holmes tried to make a nice sentiment about his fans being assets, it just wound up puzzling the man. Langsford’s attempts to clarify were not appreciated, with Cassidy saying, “Wait, wait, wait, don’t interrupt me.”

All in all, it was a terribly awkward interview, and the show’s hosts sure weren’t happy with it. As Holmes and Langsford shifted in their seats, Holmes commented, “So, there you are.”
