'Daredevil' Goes for the Long View With New Posters

Netflix just released a “motion poster” for Marvel’s Daredevil featuring glimpses of all the main characters, but just in case you prefer your posters sans movement, here’s an exclusive look at a more traditional panoramic view of the cast. Click here to see a larger version.

For those needing a refresher:

That’s Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) on the far left. He’s Matt Murdock’s best friend and comic relief, but despite their closeness, he’s probably not going to learn about Matt’s secret identity any time soon. The two founded the Nelson and Murdock law firm; there will probably be tension between the two once Karen Page enters the picture.

Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll, True Blood) is Nelson and Murdock’s secretary, whose attraction to Murdock (and Nelson’s attraction to her) is an integral part of the Daredevil story. She’s also on a quest for justice that affects Murdock’s own.

In the center is Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox, Boardwalk Empire), aka Daredevil. In case you’re expecting to see the familiar red suit, be patient. Much of the Netflix series is based on Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.’s The Man Without Fear origin story; during most of that run, Murdock’s outfit more closely resembles a ninja.

Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson, Sin City) is the name of a character who is romantically involved with Luke Cage (who has his own Netflix series in production). However, they appear to have also combined her character with Night Nurse, who offers discreet care to superheroes in need.

And at the end is Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio, Law & Order: Criminal Intent), aka Kingpin. While he’s the main villain, Daredevil will actually be facing a whole host of diverse criminals as he attempts to clean up Hell’s Kitchen. In addition to Fisk, there’s Leland Owlsley, familiar to comic fans as The Owl. Plus, there are a number of mid-level criminals — original to the series — that will be making an appearance. They include a pair of Russian brothers, Madame Gao, and Nobu, a businessman that may be related to Daredevil’s long-time ninja nemeses The Hand.
