Well, that didn’t take long. One episode after consigning Josh Chan to the dustbin of her memory in favor of her newly formed girl squad, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Rebecca is once again in full-on obsession mode, now that he’s seeing someone new. And she’s not the only one desperately searching for the answer to the episode’s titular inquiry: “Who’s the Cool Girl Josh is Dating?” Rebecca’s new best buddy, Valencia, is equally motivated to learn all she can about Anna Hicks, aka Anna the Brow-berian, the “pretty and cool” eyebrow expert who is now cozying up to their mutual ex. That mission consumes three days of their lives, and very nearly claims the life of Anna’s beloved cat. (Don’t worry, the feline still has all nine of its lives left.)

It should be noted that Valencia and Rebecca aren’t necessarily angry with Anna per se. They’re pissed at Josh for moving on and scoring a girl who, in their humble opinion, is major league, while he remains strictly in the minors. And, (Spice) girl power moments aside, they’re also getting a little tired of each other, as it becomes increasingly obvious that they don’t have much in common beyond their dislike of Josh. That turns Rebecca’s mind back to thoughts of her estranged soulmate, Paula, who is trying to replace the Bunch-shaped hole in her life with her law college pal Sunil, at the expense of her recently reignited marriage to barbershop quartet aficionado Scott. See, you two? The world just isn’t right when you’re not together.

“Research Me Obsessively”
What it’s about: Thanks to the Internet, everyone can play armchair detective, using social media — among other digital tools — to suss out the personal histories of faces and names they spot online. Confused? Don’t worry, Anna provides a helpful tutorial in such sleuthing tactics as creating a fake Instagram account bearing the name and face of a school chum, in order to access your target’s actual Instagram account. Kids, don’t try this at home. (Oh, who are we kidding? You already have.)
Sounds like: The Sexy Getting Ready Song,” only applied to Internet stalking.
Best lyric: “It’s not stalking ,because the information is all technically public.”
Funniest sight gag: Anna stroking a snow-white cat like she’s auditioning to play Blofeld in the next James Bond reboot.
What it reveals about Rebecca and Valencia: They’re able to justify doing the wrong thing when it’s a matter of life and death — make that life and Josh.

“You Go First”
What it’s about: You know that thing where you’re the guilty party in a spat, but you don’t want to own up and admit it? Yeah, both Rebecca and Paula are feeling that right about now. They’d like nothing more than to let bygones be bygones and get back to another two-day binge of The Wire — but neither of them wants to be the first to say “I’m sorry.”
Sounds like: Sheena Easton in all her shaggy-haired ‘80s glory.
Best lyric: “I just want to say I miss you everyday, and I will … but you go first.”
Funniest sight gag: The Flashdance-ready dancer in white who struts her stuff in the background, while Rebecca and Paula pretend-play synth instruments and walk between windblown curtains.
What it reveals about Rebecca and Paula: The only thing standing in the way of their overdue reconciliation is, perhaps, the most aggressive of the seven deadly sins: pride.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on the CW.
