Celebs Defend Kim Kardashian In Wake of Robbery

The Hollywood Reporter

On Sunday evening, five robbers dressed as police officers held Kim Kardashian??at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room and stole more than $10 million worth of jewelry - possibly even her new $4 million engagement ring. The reality star, who was abroad for Paris Fashion Week, where she was also attacked by celebrity assailant Vitalii Sediuk just last week, was physically unharmed but "badly shaken" by the assault.??

The scary ordeal, however, soon became fodder for Twitter trolls, who wrote they were surprised that Kardashian didn't Snapchat the robbery, with a few even insinuating that the attack was orchestrated by her team in order to get attention. Even worse, some suggested that she deserved it.??

Celebs in shining armor including Chrissy Teigen and James Corden, however, rushed to her defense, urging the public to remember that Kardashian is a wife, sister and a mother and that being a celebrity doesn't mean you're "asking for" a violent assault. "Fame is interesting," wrote Teigen, who opened a dialogue about celebrities' relationships with fans. "Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets."??

In an out of character move, even Piers Morgan came to Kardashian's defense, writing that he felt "very sorry" for the star and her family. The tweet was surprising considering his Twitter commentary with regards to celebrities is usually degrading rather than supportive.??

I dunno. It's hard to explain because everyone thinks money and fame is pure awesome, so it just sounds whiny. I get it, trust me. Go off.

It is just a weird little world that I cannot expect anyone to get. I know it seems super awesome and laughable. I know.

No one is begging you for sympathy. I know the game plan is to naturally hate celebrities https://t.co/EMHRslQKu6

- christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016

Please do not think that I think celebrities are special snowflakes. I just miss empathy, in general, for everyone.

Not sure if it matters but I definitely used to get 3 dollars worth of gas at a time and "check into cash" all paydays https://t.co/FAw3JAPdSO
