‘CBS This Morning’ Gives a Sneak Peek of Monday’s Rare Dave Chappelle Interview

On Friday, CBS This Morning shared a sneak peek of Gayle King’s upcoming interview with the man, the myth, the legend: Dave Chappelle. In the interview, they discuss Chappelle’s infamous departure from his hit Comedy Central show, the aptly named Chappelle’s Show, and the fact that when he left, he walked away from a contract worth $50 million.

“It’s very hard to say what you would’ve done. You only really know what you did. At the end of the day, ultimately, I feel good about what I did. It was not easy. And I do not recommend it,” Chappelle said of leaving the show. He added, with a laugh, “It worked for me. You know what I mean? I took the Dave Chappelle detour. It was a scenic route. I’m glad I took the route. It was a long, long, long detour.”

Chappelle made his triumphant return to television when he hosted Saturday Night Live on Nov. 12, just days after the election last fall. He now has three Netflix specials on the way, with two set to premiere on March 21, and another due later this year. The interview with CBS This Morning will air on Monday, March 20.
