Carrie Underwood’s Teary-Eyed CMT Award Acceptance Speech

Carrie Underwood was one of a handful of country music stars to receive awards during CMT’s Artists of the Year special. Olympic gold medal gymnasts, Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian, introduced Carrie, who hit the stage to perform her song “Like I’ll Never Love You Again” from her Storyteller album. After Carrie’s performance and a highlight package of her last year on tour, she went back up on stage to accept her award from Aly and Madison. During her acceptance speech, the former American Idol took a long pause and said, “Oh, man. I don't know why I'm getting teary eyed. I think it was seeing my little guy on the screen.” Underwood was referring to the highlight package where there were some images of her son, Isaiah. The country music superstar held the tears back while she thanked her husband for his support, saying, “Thank you, Mike, for just being so supportive throughout this tour. It's been so much fun being on the road. Definitely hard being away from you but you're the best.
