‘Carlito’s Way’: John Leguizamo Says Crew Tricked ‘Evil’ Co-Star Into Thinking They Were Gaining Weight

Live With Kelly co-hosts Kelly Ripa and John Leguizamo were commiserating over the tightness of their clothes, and wondering if Ripa’s dry cleaner was to blame for shrinking them, when the lighthearted banter took an unexpected, but juicy, turn.

Leguizamo recounted his days co-starring in Carlito’s Way, when the costume department would take one of the actor’s clothes in a centimeter each day, so that she thought she was gaining weight. “She was flipping out, but she was mean, she was evil, so they kept doing it,” Leguizamo said. Ripa asked Leguizamo if he knew who the actress was. He replied that of course he did, and then, surprisingly, named her. It was none other than Penelope Ann Miller.

Miller co-starred in such films as Kindergarten Cop, Big Top Peewee, and Adventures in Babysitting, to name a few, and something tells us that she’s not going to be too keen to hear what Leguizamo has been saying about her.
