Cable Ratings: Fox News Beats CNN and MSNBC Combined in Primetime
Fox News was the most-watched network in cable in both primetime and total day viewers last week, beating CNN and MSNBC combined in primetime — where MSNBC beat CNN for the third consecutive week.
Fox News has now finished No. 1 in primetime for 10 out of the last 11 weeks, averaging 2.14 million viewers for the week of August 15-21. MSNBC averaged 1.06 million primetime viewers and CNN averaged 746,000.
CNN continues to disappoint in August after a tremendous July, finishing the week No. 18 during primetime compared to No. 7 for MSNBC. CNN had beat MSNBC for all of July.

USA, HGTV, The History Channel and TBS joined Fox News among the highest-rated networks from 8-11 p.m.
CNN was the No. 1 cable channel in Monday through Sunday primetime and Monday through Friday prime, in terms of both total viewers and the key 25-54 news demo as recently as the week of July 25. That was during the Democratic Convention, but the network has fallen significantly since.
When it comes to total-day viewers, Fox News finished No. 1, averaging 1.26 million viewers. Nickelodeon, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and HGTV join FNC among the top five. CNN finished No. 8 with 639,000 viewers and MSNBC finished No. 13 with 564,000.
