Tracking 'Mindy Project' in Emojis: Danny and Mindy Go to Bed ... and Watch TV

Amy (Sarah Burns) discovers Danny (Chris Messina) and Mindy (Mindy Kaling) in "The Mindy Project"

This week's episode of "The Mindy Project" zeroed in on a major male sex crime: Man describes a girl he had sex with "once" as a "crazy stalker" when, in fact, the man is the one who's kind of crazy, given that, in truth, he slept with the "stalker" and made her pancakes on multiple occasions. Yep, Dr. Danny (Chris Messina) is guilty. And the writers brought a lot of depth to lonely Danny in a clever, endearing way. That was, hands down, the most blustering, dynamic moment of the show, when Mindy called out Danny on his pancake making. Level 1 and Level 5 all at the same time, right?

The other semi-ridiculous plot that was about texting was worth it in the end because of the major omigod moment that will make for storms next week. But getting there was like crossing the Bermuda Triangle. One minute it's a Nora Ephron-ish story where adults walk around musing on love. And the next minute, we're in a quirky episode of "Catfish."

Can you keep up with this hurricane? Let's see.

Level 5: Watch out! Tornado? Sharknado? Mind-ado!

Level 4: Danger! Yes, that's hail out there

Level 3: Thunder sounds worse than it is (knock on wood)

Level 2: Cloudy with 50-50 chance of drama

Level 1: Smooth sailing. Happy, healthy, and totally well-adjusted!

Peter (Adam Pally) and Cliff (Glenn Howerton) hang at Mindy's apartment in

Attorney Cliff Gilbert (Glenn Howerton) is hitting the town with a Miss Universe runner-up. Mindy shares the elevator with the couple and talks about going home to take an allergy test. In elevators on Friday nights, honesty is not the best policy.

In the World According to Mindy, a practicing physician leaves the office without the trifecta: purse/keys/phone? Not buying it. Anyway, she asks Danny to crash at his place. He says yes. Duh.

Superavailable Danny is laying down the houseguest laws, but Dr. L is whining in earnest about her lack of husband prospects. Is it 1957? This humorless old-maid anxiety feels forced. Hey, it's not like it's the holidays … yet.

An upwardly mobile, cute single attorney ditches a Miss Universe runner-up to text with Dr. Lahiri.

Cliff is way into the texts with Mindy. Too bad he doesn't know that he's actually texting with Morgan and Peter, who nabbed Mindy's phone. Yikes.

Mindy and Danny walk and talk. She tells him that she's got it bad for a guy she works in the same place with who's "out of her league." He thinks she's talking about him, but she's actually talking about Cliff. Clearly neither doc is a psychologist.

Danny asks Mindy to pretend to be his girlfriend, because they bump into his "crazy" stalker neighbor who he hooked up with. Hmm.

Mindy takes it to another level and declares herself Danny's pregnant fiancée "Chloe Silverado." The stalker fumes. Will she explode? Ticktock.

Did you know that an emoticon wink is "emoji porn"? Well, Morgan knows about the wink. The heat between Cliff and fake-Mindy is on.

But at the same time, there is no actual heat because, you know, Morgan is not Mindy.

Danny wants to stop watching the Nature channel with Mindy and "talk." Mindy confesses to farting in his bed and spilling red wine on a pillow.

Danny doesn't get to "talk" to Mindy because the stalker neighbor is in the living room. Fortunately, this leads to a more compelling talk. Danny tells Mindy that the Obama family makes him lonely. Aw! The crazy stalker isn't crazy. She backs off Danny and Mindy because Danny never looked at her the way he looks at Mindy. This show would be the best show if we stayed with Danny and Mindy, but instead…

We switch gears into over-the-top, "Three's Company" goof mode: Cliff is in Mindy's apartment for the Veterans Day party, thinking that Mindy is in the bathroom, which she isn't, because she doesn't even know about the party, because Morgan and Peter threw the party. Eh. This is getting more absurd by the second.

Mindy thinks it's bad when she learns that Cliff went home with her talkative neighbor (Ellie Kemper).

Mindy reads the texts that Cliff thinks he exchanged with her. Yikes.

Are you excited to see Mindy's next move? Do you want her to go for Cliff, or are you ready to see her and Danny finally go for it?

"The Mindy Project" airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.
