Brian Williams is one proud papa.
The NBC Nightly News anchor, 55, reported in his Wednesday broadcast that his daughter Girls star Allison Williams had been cast in Peter Pan Live. And while he maintained his serious broadcast style during the segment, he worked in some inside information from "family members." In addition to noting how they "look forward to seeing her fly," he added that the 26-year-old actress had been "rehearsing for this role since the age of 3."
At that point, a photo of Allison as a tot popped on screen. She was adorably dressed in a Peter Pan outfit and had on a huge smile.
NBC, the network on which Brian has appeared since 1993, made the big casting announcement about Peter Pan on Wednesday. NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt called Allison a "lovely rising star" and said, "We think she will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook."
The Yale grad is a trained singer and has already exhibited her crooning talents on Girls. When she does it again in Peter Pan Live! on Dec. 4, you know her biggest fan — dear ole dad! — will be watching. And we can't wait to see his news report that night.
