The Women of TLC's 'Sister Wives' Admit They Get Jealous [Exclusive Video]
The Truth Behind "Sister Wives" Jealousy IssuesWould you be able to share your romantic partner with someone else? How about three someone elses? That's the Brown family's lifestyle on TLC's "Sister Wives," which kicks off Season 4 this weekend. The plural family — Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn — sat down with Kristen Aldridge on Yahoo!'s "The Yo Show" to discuss the word that's on everyone's lips: "jealousy"! According to Meri and Christine, whether or not they get jealous of each other is the No. 1 question the wives get asked. The answer is yes, but they manage it.
"A lot of times they ask, 'How do you not get jealous?' And I always say to them, 'Who says I'm not?'" admitted Meri, Kody's first wife. "It's just a natural human emotion, you know ... in living this way we deal with. But the point is to try and overcome those things. And, you know, we're just all a big family. We love each other."
But just because jealousy is an obstacle the Brown women face doesn't mean that they're speaking for every polygamist family. The clan recently hung out with another plural family, also with one husband and four wives, and the Browns wanted to know if the seemingly similar group also felt jealousy. "We even asked them. We're fascinated with their family 'cause their family's set up very differently than ours. It was fantastic! Even we want to know. It's ridiculous," Christine said.
The other family insisted that there wasn't any jealousy between its wives, but some of the Brown ladies had a hard time believing that. "I was wondering how they get there — not jealous. Because if they're really not jealous, I wanna know how they do it," Meri said. Kody wasn't thrilled hearing some of his wives express doubt at the other family's answer: "We can't sit here and say they're lying."
Interesting fact: Meri is the only woman legally married to Kody, but all the other wives have legally changed their last name to Brown so they can live and represent themselves as one family. Speaking of family, the women cumulatively have 17 kids ranging in age from 1 to 19. How do the little ones feel about their family being different? "I don't think that they realized they were different," Meri explained, adding, "I think everybody else was different to them. It was normal for them."
What's in store for Season 4? New homes, a new business venture, and tons of drama!
