'RuPaul's Drag Race' Couple, Sharon Needles and Alaska, Splits

Sharon Needles and Alaska — the most popular romantic couple to each appear as contestants on "RuPaul's Drag Race" — have decided to sashay away from each other … at least, romantically-speaking.

The couple had been together for four years, since meeting in Pittsburgh where they both lived before being cast in the hit Logo show. They issued a joint statement together announcing their split.

"I will always love Sharon, and we will continue to be a part of each other's lives," Alaska wrote. "Authenticity and honesty to our fans is so important to us, and we will always be there for all of you, no matter what. I appreciate your love and support in this period of change."

Added Sharon, "Due to the severe change not only in mine but Alaska's life, the survival of our partnership relies on simply changing the word 'boy' in boyfriend to 'best.' And because of my severe vanity, I'd like to keep my social media as a place dedicated to my art, and not a place to talk about my personal life. RuPaul once said that people come into our lives for different reasons for different intervals of time. I will treasure the four years we had together."

Sharon (real name Aaron Coady) came into the public eye in 2012 when she won Season 4 of "Drag Race," dazzling fans of the show with her outrageous sense of goth-shock style. Her boyfriend, Alaska (real name Justin Andrew Honard), was 2nd runner-up in Season 5 of the show in 2013, making her way to the finals on her sharp sense of humor and her signature high-pitched way of greeting everyone, "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii."

We're glad to read that this seems like a friendly parting for the former couple.

Meanwhile, Season 6 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" is getting ready to premiere in February.  Click here to meet the queens who will be competing for this year's crown.
