‘Reign’ Review: A Girlier ‘Game of Thrones,’ With Less Sex Than You Might Be Expecting

Being queen isn't all tiaras, ballgowns, and knights in shining armor. In tonight's series premiere of The CW's "Reign," Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) soon learns that royal blood puts a target on her back.

Mary moves to the French court to prepare for her eventual wedding to the heir of the throne, the dashing and charming Prince Francis. But her future mother-in-law Queen Catherine is plotting against her after Nostradamus predicted Mary will spell doom for her Francis.

In this exclusive sneak peek clip from tonight's premiere, Mary is contemplating a set of stones on her vanity which trigger a flashback to an earlier time. Suddenly, there's a creak — "Is anyone here?" Mary asks aloud.

She creeps toward a screen, but just as she's about peek around it, the shadow of a hand presses against it! A female voice whispers a dire warning to Mary.

"Reign" premieres Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
