A sneak peek of the film was screened for fans in attendance. In the clip, Veronica attends her high school reunion and is recruited (by Jamie Lee Curtis in a cameo appearance) to renew her career as a private investigator, something she has given up since we last saw the character. Though she hasn't been sleuthing for all these years, the Veronica we know and love is still as witty and sassy as ever. And yes, Dick (Ryan Hansen) is still... Dick and Logan (Jason Dohring) is still really good at brooding.

"It has sort of a 'Godfather 3' theme to it," joked series creator Rob Thomas. "Getting pulled back into this life we all thought was over years ago."

Throughout the panel discussion, the cast talked about what it was like to reunite thanks to a successful Kickstarter project that enlisted fans to help fund the movie. Some highlights:

  • Star Kristen Bell looks back at when the TV show was given the ax: "I found out 'Veronica Mars' was cancelled the day before shooting the 'Sarah Marshall' scene in which her character finds out her own show was cancelled."

  • Thomas on flying with puppets: "I flew from Austin to LA to shoot the Kickstarter video, and I was screened by airport security. When they opened my suitcase there were two puppets staring face up at them."

  • Co-star Tina Majorino on reuniting with her "Veronica Mars" co-stars: "We're coming to set both as our characters and as ourselves because we're all seeing each other for the first time in years."

  • Percy Daggs III on shooting the new movie: "It felt like going to your high school reunion and then having to leave after an hour."
