It's no secret that reality darling Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and her family are loud and proud of who they are. Whether they're playing in the mud or jiggling their bellies, the McIntyre, Georgia, clan wants us to "redneckognize" their Southern awesomeness. But that doesn't mean that they're not willing to make some changes to better themselves. Honey Boo Boo's mother, Mama June, famously lost more than 100 pounds, showing off her bod in a "Baywatch"-style photo shoot earlier this year.
The reality TV mom swung by "omg! Insider" to chat about her weight loss and the fact that 7-year-old Honey Boo Boo is losing her baby fat, even though she loves fast food. "As she gets older, I mean, she's losing it, getting taller. She's a healthy child," Mama June said about her little pageant princess. What's Honey Boo Boo's favorite food? McDonald's chicken nuggets, of course.
As for her own weight loss, June — who went from nearly 400 pounds to 280 — has a self-confident and admirable approach to her body: "If I was to get back up to 380, I would just be as happy as I am right now, because to me — big, small, or little — I am who I am. Like me or love me, I don't really care."
Her weight wasn't even an issue when she tied the knot with Honey Boo Boo's dad, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, in May. The mom of four was confident in her unique wedding gown; she went with a camouflage-themed gown for her big day. "The dress was beautiful. It may not be white, but … it's what goes for our people," the 33-year-old mother added.
What can we expect from Mama June on Season 2 of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"? Some accidental slips of the tongue! She has to get used to not using dirty words around her new granddaughter, Kaitlyn, but she's not too worried about it: "My kids have heard worse. You know, sometimes it just slips."
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" returns on Wednesday, 7/17 at 9 PM on TLC.
