'Hannibal' First Look: Gina Torres Returns But It Does Not Look Good

Yahoo TV

Gina Torres is finally making her way back to "Hannibal" this week, but unfortunately it does not look good. Take a look at our exclusive first look of her return in this week's episode "Takiawase" (airs Friday, March 21 at 10 p.m. on NBC):

'Hannibal' First Look: Gina Torres Returns But It Does Not Look Good

Torres plays Bella Crawford, the wife of Jack Crawford (played by Torres's real-life husband Laurence Fishburne) who is dying of cancer. Before her detective husband knew she was ill, Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) could literally smell the sickness on her, and Bella began seeing him as her therapist.

Yahoo TV caught up with Torres at the Television Critics Association press tour in January, and her lips were sealed about Bella's health, but she did talk about switching between "Hannibal's" dark world and her lighter, more stylish role as Jessica Pearson on USA's "Suits."

"Yes, I do make my way back to that world," Torres said, confirming her return to "Hannibal." It's really interesting… the episodes that I have done are all pretty much at the tail-end of the season of 'Suits.' It's been fascinating to me leaving the 'Suits' world and going to the 'Hannibal' world, which is completely different and darker, and my character having cancer."

So how many episodes will Bella be in this season? "I can't tell you!" Torres said with a grin. Unfortunately, there are no smiles in this picture, above, as Jack and Bella hold hands, both in pajamas, with Bella looking weak and her hair tucked into a turban. Did she go through chemotherapy? Did it work?

Either way, we can't wait to see the softer side of Jack that this will certainly bring out, and we hope that Bella might get to share one last meal with Dr. Lecter. "Me too. He is a great cook!," she said with a laugh.

"Hannibal" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
