Canary yellow dresses were the key to Emmy success in 2012. Three standouts who dared to don the bold look at last year's awards show went home with matching golden statuettes.
"Modern Family's" Julie Bowen chose a flowing neon yellow Monique Lhuillier dress. The gown made such a statement that "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj wore it for an event just two months later.
"I am not upset that she wore my dress at all," Bowen told Jay Leno, who pointed out Minaj's fashion no-no. "I'm upset that she stole my hair," Bowen added, jokingly referring to Minaj's blond locks.

Claire Danes, who won in 2012 for her role in the drama "Homeland," wore a sunny yellow Lanvin dress that left plenty of room for her baby bump.
"It didn't need any tweaking, and it's very bump-friendly," Danes told E! News' Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet. "It was easy and pretty."
Julianne Moore took a risk in a chartreuse Dior gown that elicited some mixed reactions on the red carpet. But Moore pulled off the yellow-green, long-sleeved dress and won the best actress award for her spot-on take of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin for the TV movie "Game Change."
Plus, the red-haired beauty was hard to miss among a sea of safe choices.
Nominees attending the event on Sunday should consider their color choice carefully — it could lead to Emmy gold.
