SPOILER ALERT: This recap reveals the elimination results of Week 7 of "Dancing With the Stars."
Latin night is one of the hottest nights on "Dancing With the Stars," so it's no surprise that someone got burned on Monday night's episode. That's because in addition to sambas, paso dobles, and a Puerto Rican pop superstar guest judge (Ricky Martin was in the house!), another contestant's mirrorball quest was cut short. But there was also an unexpected injury that put a major damper on the live show.
Martin opened the show with a lively performance of his 2014 World Cup song "Vida," but it wasn't long before the hot Latin party came to a screeching halt for Amy Purdy and her pro partner Derek Hough. The Paralympian snowboarder injured her back after her first dance performance and received medical attention during the live broadcast.

In a backstage interview with Erin Andrews, Purdy explained that her shoulder had been bothering her, but she was fine during her rumba. "Right after judging, I turned my head and my back cracked and it just seized up," she said. "Everything's really painful right now. It's hard to breathe."
Purdy was transported to the hospital, but before she left she expressed guilt over missing her team dance. "I literally turned wrong and my back cracked and then just went into serious pain" she said, holding back tears. "We have our team dance and I feel so bad because I love our dance. We all had so much fun putting it together and we were killing it together." (Note: Footage from her team's dress rehearsal was used so the judges could score Purdy's routine.)
It's not the first time an injury has occurred during the live show. In Season 6, actor Cristián de la Fuente suffered a ruptured tendon in his left bicep muscle during a performance and was sent to the hospital. In Season 14, Melissa Gilbert hit her head while performing a paso doble with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and was rushed to the hospital after complaining of dizziness. And who can forget Season 5, when Marie Osmond infamously fainted on live TV following her Week 5 dance?
In addition to Purdy's abbreviated Latin night, the dance party was over for good for NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani. The duo became the sixth couple eliminated from the competition this season. After her elimination, Leakes said, "I am so proud of myself. And I hope that I inspired women all over the world. This has been an amazing, positive experience for me." The reality went on to thank her husband, children, family, friends and fans before adding, "I am so proud of myself to stand here and compete with Olympians with no dance experience at all. I am proud of NeNe Leakes."

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough: Rumba ("Light My Fire" by Jose Feliciano)
Before her injury, the Paralympian's boyfriend troubles were showcased. Still, her dance of love had judge Len Goodman saying, "You lit my fire out there," while Martin said he "felt a lot of things" while watching her dance. But Carrie Ann Inaba, who got slammed last week for penalizing Purdy's weaknesses, was careful to note that she was going to be strict this week. "Your foot came off the ground," Inaba said, before warning Hough not to put in moves that make his partner vulnerable.
James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd: Samba ("Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee)
The heat was on for the scantily clad the Big Time Rush singer and his pro partner for their samba. Inaba told the duo their chemistry was "beyond sick," while Martin said, "You guys always take it to the next level… it's like the gift that keeps on giving." But Goodman was giving out a few dings. He said Maslow's footwork was off and he told the star he would have liked to see more hip action.
Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy: Salsa ("Watch Out For This /Bumaye" by Major Lazer)
There were X-rays and tears this week for the "Wonder Years" alum, but the show still went on after the rib injury she suffered during rehearsals last week — and she was even jumping rope for the intro to her salsa. Inaba said she thought McKellar's rib injury "stifled the movement," and Goodman called the routine "a little too pop video-ish" for his taste. But Martin toasted the couple's "amazing chemistry." Bruno Tonioli called the dance "ghetto fabulous… salsa from the hood!"
NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani: Argentine Tango ("Can't Remember to Forget You" by Shakira)
In a social media "Jump the Shark" moment, viewers took to Twitter to vote for Tony Dovolani to take his shirt off for his Argentine tango with Leakes. Unfortunately, even Dovolani's abs couldn't distract the judges from the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star's not-so-sharp moves.
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess: Paso Doble ("Sail" by AWOLNATION)
What does this guy have to do to get a 10? Turns out he needed to impress Ricky Martin. While the regular judges nit-picked White's dance (Goodman was the harshest, saying, "To get a 10 you have to do something special; that wasn't special'), the guest judge gave him kudos and double digits. "I see what they're saying," Martin said, "But I was living the moment and I was flying with you guys."
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas: Argentine Tango ("1977″ by Ana Tijioux)
The "Full House" star used her legs to her advantage, garnering praise for her "amazing lines." (That was Martin getting technical!) Goodman agreed: "Your legs were clean and sharp," he said. "That was hot and right on it."
Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Salsa ("Adrenalina" by Wisin)
Ricky Martin was speechless after the Olympic gold medalist's showy dance, but Tonioli's raving commentary made up for it: "Meryl, the leader of the gang!" he announced. "Ricky, that girl, she bangs!" Goodman felt the routine was too much, calling it "a little too hectic, too full on."
In addition to this week's solo Latin dance routines, the couples competed in team freestyle dances. Team Loca (Amy/Derek, Meryl/Maks, Danica/Val, Candace/Mark) danced to Martin's 1999 smash "Livin' La Vida Loca," while Team Vida (Charlie/Sharna, James/Peta, NeNe/Tony) danced to the pop star's 1998 single "Cup of Life." In the end, Team Vida scored 35 points, while Team Loca nabbed a whopping 39 points based on their rehearsal footage.
