Ashley Olsen's Rare Appearance Makes for a Real 'Full House' Reunion
But Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who were babies when they began sharing the role of young Michelle Tanner on the beloved '80s and '90s show, somehow couldn't or wouldn't make room in their schedules to hang out with their former co-stars. Perhaps the 27-year-olds were too busy running their clothing empire, or maybe it has to do with the fact that the twins haven't always had glowing things to say about their time as young actors. (Mary-Kate told Marie Claire magazine in 2010 that she and Ashley were like "little monkey performers" early in their careers.)
In a surprising turnaround, Ashley found time to attend the 50th birthday party of her onscreen Uncle Jesse, John Stamos, at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood on Monday night. Another "Full House" alum, 57-year-old Bob Saget, hosted the fete for 200 people, while his former TV daughter Candace Cameron Bure, 37, mingled in the crowd that included Tom Jones, Kristin Chenoweth, and Darren Criss, as well as Priscilla Presley (Uncle Jesse would be thrilled!) and the Beach Boys.
Stamos, whose actual birthday was Aug. 19, even played the drums for the Beach Boys, just like Uncle Jesse did in the old days!
Needless to say, Stamos had an evening to remember.
Had the party of a lifetime Monday night - everyone that is so important in my life was there.… http://t.co/xev5ZsnB1e— John Stamos (@JohnStamos) August 28, 2013
The "Necessary Roughness" actor's former "Full House" co-stars had fun, too.
I had a great time hanging with Ashley last night! Such a beauty inside and out❤ pic.twitter.com/x4ow1JjZ8v— Lori Loughlin (@LoriLoughlin) August 28, 2013
Perhaps Mary-Kate will come to the next Tanner family reunion? There's bound to be one soon. In July, Stamos, Loughlin, and Saget appeared on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" for a performance by Stamos's former onscreen band, Jesse and the Rippers. It was just last year when most of the cast, including Jodie Sweetin, Dave Coulier, and Andrea Barber, celebrated the show's 25th anniversary with a cake shaped like the house from the show and readings of old "Full House" scripts.
