Boy With Down Syndrome Wins Pumpkin Competition For Growing the Biggest Gourd

Inside Edition CBS

A young boy spends over a year to grow an award-winning plant. Over the winter, Ben turned compost that would eventually feed a 1,248 pound pumpkin. The following spring, he planted a seed that grew into a monster squash. He named the pumpkin "Mario" after his friend who helped him with the process. After weighing it, Ben took the pumpkin to the RHS London pumpkin contest. Upon arrival, Ben took a look at the competition and immediately knew his prized possession would take first place.
