Emily Wickersham ("The Sopranos", "The League"), who was originally signed for a three-episode arc (slated to begin airing next week, Nov. 19), has been promoted to a series regular, CBS announced Monday morning.
Of course, she's not there to replace Ziva David — the popular "NCIS" character who left the show at the beginning of the season. It's purely coincidence that she's smart, athletic, attractive, socially awkward, driven, and idealistic. What trouble could possibly come from sitting her down at the desk across from Tony DiNozzo — who is still mourning the loss of his smart, athletic, attractive, socially awkward, driven, and idealistic love interest who he's been partnered with for the last ten years?
Wickersham plays NSA Analyst Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop, who correctly predicts a security breach involving the Secretary of the Navy. "Emily Wickersham's Ellie Bishop is proving to perfectly compliment the NCIS team," said executive producer/showrunner Gary Glasberg. Yeah, but is she a ninja? More importantly, if Tony/Ziva was "Tiva", does that make Bishop/DiNozzo "Bozzo"?
"NCIS" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
