Despite having a challenging career, a loving husband, and two beautiful children, "The Little Couple" star Jen Arnold is in the midst of a serious battle with a rare form of cancer, Yahoo TV has confirmed.
"I have recently been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer and am currently undergoing treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy" the 39-year-old neonatologist explained in a statement.
While a blow like this might devastate many people, Jen, whose upbeat spirit and go-get-'em attitude first caught the attention of TLC viewers during the TV special "Little Couple: Just Married," has already found the silver lining on this very dark cloud.
"I am very fortunate as the prognosis is good," she revealed. That is certainly welcome news indeed, considering that after battling both fertility and surrogacy issues, she and her husband, Bill Klein, expanded their family through adoption and now have son Will, 3, from China, and daughter Zoey, 2, to care for at home.
"While there is never a good time to get news like this, getting it just as we are building our new family is tough in many ways," Jen admitted. "But being surrounded by the love of my husband and our two beautiful children is actually in many ways giving me the strength to fight it even stronger."
Though no further details about Arnold's cancer are being released and Klein has yet to make a statement, as usual, they are in this together.
"In general, we are pretty tough people," Jen mused earlier this year. "I feel very lucky and fortunate to have the wonderful life I have. We are good at putting things in perspective because of our life experiences. I am not a person to give up when something is important."
Well, this certainly qualifies. Even though this battle is a big one, we're confident no one is better prepared to handle it than she is.
TLC is rallying around the family as well, telling Yahoo TV, "We are asking people to send will wishes on Twitter with #GetWellJen."
We'll be doing just that.
"The Little Couple" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on TLC.
