‘Bear Swamp Recovery’ Might Be the Most American Show on TV

"Bear Swamp Recovery," a new TruTV show premiering Monday, August 22, wasn't on my radar at all until I just got the press release. It was with a mixture of boredom, curiosity, and hope that the show was about people who recover bears from swamps that I clicked, and instead found something that just could be the most America-right-now show imaginable.

See, "Bear Swamp Recovery" is the name of a New Jersey repossession business (the economic crisis: check!) that takes back the cars of "millionaire beachfront snobs" (class conflict: check!), while, if this trailer is to be believed, stuffing their faces with junk food (junk food and food in general: check!) while worrying about their weight (obesity: check!). Shows about the repo biz aren't new, so they had to find another conflict: not just repo men, but self-described fat repo men (with recipes!)! You have to hand it to TruTV for at least having their finger on the pulse of this country's biggest problems. It's funny 'cause it's Tru:
